Who we are
OneUmmah Marriages is a marriage and matrimony community for the United Kingdom. This policy explains what information we hold about you, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
What we collect
Account information you give us (email address, password held in encrypted form, account status), profile information you enter (for example name, age range, location, occupation, education, bio, and profile photographs), messages you exchange with other members, wali and guardian records where a wali has been appointed, support conversations, and standard technical data such as IP address, device type and browser used to access the site.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate the service: creating and verifying your profile, showing you profiles of other members, delivering messages, enforcing our community rules, responding to support requests, and keeping the platform secure. We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Contact details and privacy by design
Contact details are not published on your profile. Members cannot see your phone number, email address or full address unless you explicitly approve the request and the release is recorded. Free-text profile fields are visible to members, so please do not enter private contact details there.
Verification and moderation
Administrators review profiles to confirm identity and eligibility before a profile becomes visible. Reviews are carried out by OneUmmah Marriages staff. You can withdraw a profile from public view at any time, and you can ask us to delete content we are not required to retain.
Legal basis and retention
We process personal data to perform our contract with you as a member, to meet legal obligations where they apply, and to protect the safety of members and the platform. Profile and message data is retained while your account is active. Deleted accounts are removed from search and browsing, and residual data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for safety, fraud prevention or legal reasons.
Your rights
You can request access to a copy of your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your account, or restriction of certain processing. You can also object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests. Contact [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies that are required to keep you signed in and to remember your session. We limit analytics to understanding aggregate usage so we can improve the service. We do not use advertising cookies.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to member data is restricted to staff who need it to operate and moderate the platform. No system is perfectly secure, so please choose a unique password and do not share it with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from OneUmmah Marriages.
Children
OneUmmah Marriages is for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the service, contact [email protected] and we will remove the account.
